daylight

New research into the distribution of natural light and its level of exposure in historic buildings has been the focus of recent research. The work included imaging methods to measure where the natural light falls at different points throughout the day and over several months in one particular building, with a researcher's keen eye to balance visitor enjoyment with the preservation of paintings, textiles and furniture that are vulnerable to light fading and aging.

Gore Place Celebration

Back in late August, 2014, we were in the midst of moving this 40-by-70-foot, two-story Carriage House from the northwest corner of Gore St. down 350 feet south.

Tonight, we were invited to attend the Carriage House Celebration Gala in rejoice of it's restoration. The event will begin at 6 PM and is set to run though the night. This historic building will house a wonderful evening filled with select cocktails, fine dinner, and good company.

Restoration of the Original Berkshire County Courthouse

March at the Stockbridge Library

Allegrone has been hard at work on the renovation of our 46 Main Street building. Last week, we were delighted to give a tour of the construction site to the Stockbridge Selectmen and Finance Committee.

Many thanks to our project superintendent Roger Gaylord, who led the tour, giving our visitors their first look at the progress of the renovation, including framing and foundation work.
