Community Connect: Berkshire Country Day School Nears $3 Million Mark for Campus Project

Berkshire Country Day School is celebrating the approach of the finishing line for its two-year, $3 million campaign to fund a new library, performing arts space and to enhance the endowment, specifically for higher faculty salaries.

The facilities, costing about $1.5 million, are designed by Flansburg Architects, the noted Boston firm, and will be built by Allegrone Construction, which submitted the most competitive bid for a restoration of the historic Furey Hall. Allegrone handled the school's Fitzpatrick Gym and Peterson Hall in the late 1990s...

Crane Estate's Italian Garden Project

This past April, we began our project on the restoration of the Crane Estate’s Italian Garden, located on Argilla Road in Ipwish, MA.  Our team will restore the masonry, install new drainage, and make structural repairs to the water basin of the garden.  The project is set to be completed this year, and patrons will be able to enjoy the newly restored gardens come November.   

Farm Store Celebrates Reopening and Expansion

After a yearlong construction process, the Hawthorne Valley Farm Store celebrated its official grand reopening last Sunday, June 28.

 Allegrone Construction of Pittsfield, Mass. completed the construction project back in 2014. The expansion project included an additional 430 square feet to offer expanded café seating, and a redesign of the front of the store to increase the produce, cheese and deli selections.

Parker Seeley Lodge Completion

 Last weekend, we celebrated the completion of the YMCA Camp Hi-Rock’s new Parker Seeley Lodge. Members of our team, donors, volunteers, staff members, alumni, campers and their families, staff, neighbors, and friends of the camp attended the luncheon and ribbon cutting ceremony.

Allegrone has been hard at work on the renovation of our 46 Main Street building. Last week, we were delighted to give a tour of the construction site to the Stockbridge Selectmen and Finance Committee. 

Many thanks to our project superintendent Roger Gaylord, who led the tour, giving our visitors their first look at the progress of the renovation, including framing and foundation work.

Bostwick Gardens paves the way for new affordable, modern senior housing in Great Barrington, MA. The project involved renovation and upgrades to the existing 29 unit apartment building. The new construction phase was performed simultaneously and included the addition of a new 31 unit, 3 story building on the adjoining lot. The new combined facility includes a game room, an exercise room, a large community kitchen and a community garden.

Originally built in 1888 as the Berkshire County Home for Aged Women, the design entailed restoring and replicating prominent historic details, which pay homage to the Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, while incorporating a new transitional style that boasts the comforts of multifamily living in the modern age.  The program houses 18 residential units along with shared amenities including dining cafe, reading and fitness and educational uses.
